MMP general.
Mosaic Mimic Panel (MMP) – is a human-machine interface with a large area of applications. It represents a graphic diagram of controlled process, combined with different types of active indicators (digital and analog meters and instruments, LED-indicators, LED-text signs…) and devices to control and manage the process (switches, buttons, keys- and touch panels).
MMP can be used for any type of control rooms with to secure overview and reduce personal fatigue:
-central control rooms of the power plants;
-central control rooms of electrical distribution networks;
-railway and subway control rooms;
-technological controls (for chemistry, machinery, mining, metallurgy… );
-different types of large pumps stations;
-any other applications where you need to monitor and control the whole large process.

Despite the wide range of proces control systems, based on digital PLCs, where are reasons why MMP technology never becomes outdated and are better for:
1) Critically important systems and objects (energy power units, large pump stations, dangerous chemical processes etc.)
MMP can directly control the process by parallel wires. That’s mean the MMP is an additional independent control tool to a common DCS system. MMP keep control of equipment and understanding the situation in case of:
-Faulty DCS,
-DCS control screen overload by alarm messages etc.
MMP have highest reliability. Impossible to really damage MMP. Easy to repair faulty section within 15 min and can be down by non-specialized personnel.
2. Ergonomics and health friendly.
-Passive background of MMP is natural and eye-friendly. Reducing long-term fatigue and degradation of attention.
-Difference between MMP and monitor-based work is the difference reading from paper and computer screen.
-MMP let operators comfortable monitor simultaneously entire process on a large surface.
-Control switches and buttons located next to controlled equipment pictogram and status indicators. Secures implicit and unmistakable switch operations.
-Signals are “real” light signal on passive surface (not just a changes of pixels colors). New signals are easy to locate and identify mistake.
3. Cost efficiency.
MMP solutions cheapest system for control rooms:
-Low implementation cost.
-Easy and cheap to maintain, change diagrams, move/ add new symbols, gauges and LEDs.
-Easy to replace/repair elements by own personnel.
-No operational cost.
-Lowest power consumption, no necessity of cooling.
